The
excellent coastal and inland hills of Southern Cyprus offer everthing
that is needed for completing the soaring related tasks of the
CP syllabus. Our main site, a coastal soaring site has been used
by the British Army for their paragliding training for many years
and has proved itself to be a very reliable location.
The
type of flying instruction undertaken on the Southern Cyprus trip
is mainly ridge soaring but may contain some thermal coaching
if appropriate.
The
Flying
The main coastal site we use is a very UK-like ridge with consistent
sea-breezes enabling us to complete BHPA syllabus tasks. Although
there are many superb destinations around the world, such as the
Alps, very few of them prepare you for the conditions we get here
in the UK. After a course in South Cyprus you will return armed
with many of the skills required to fly safely back home.
Who
is it for?
This trip is primarily designed for post
EP students wanting to gain their CP rating, or lower airtime
qualified pilots who want a relaxing week flying in a supervised
environment. We also accept EP students who have done at least
3 days training. We expect you to return to the UK having completed
all tasks for the CP rating, except for top landings which is
the only limitation with the sites in Cyprus. However, we often
allow students to come to us in the UK for free to complete this
last day.
When
do you go?
We run 7, 10 and 14 day trips.We run a
spring trip and an autumn trip. Click on the 'Trip Dates' button
to see the available dates. We try to choose the dates to offer
the best chance of extending the UK season. The weather is usually
consistently flyable without being too extreme.
Whats
included?
We provide the transport, hotel accommodation,
the instruction and radios. You need to book your own flights
although we usually have a couple of recommended options so that
they coincide with the airport pickup.
