Let us make your dream become reality...
This is simply the most exciting thing to happen in the hills and mountains for years. You can back-pack a paraglider, weighing only a few pounds, to a suitable mountain or ridge and experience the exhilaration of walking on air.
Developed in the mountains of the Alps, the sport has grown rapidly over the past few years as thousands of people have discovered the freedom, exhillaration and sheer fun of these simplest of flying machines. Advances in design and modern materials make flights of many hours, covering considerable distances, a reality.

What is paragliding?
Paragliding is not hang-gliding and it's not parachuting although certain principles from each discipline are common. A paraglider is an intricately stitched wing made from ripstop non-porous material. When inflated it forms a rigid structure with an aerofoil section which allows it to develop lift in the same way as any other wing. We then hang a comfortable harness below it, add a pilot and hey-presto, the most portable flying machine ever invented.

Can anyone do it?

Provided you are in normal health and do not suffer from any disability that would prevent you from driving a car for instance, then yes, you can. You must however be over the age of sixteen and have the consent of your parent or guardian if under eighteen. If you are unsure whether you are able to participate, please call us and we will be pleased to advise.

How do I start?

By booking a beginners course. It does not matter if you have never seen a paraglider before as we start right at the beginning and progress only as quickly as your confidence and ability allows.
Is it safe?
Paragliding could be a dangerous sport if practised irresponsibly or in unsuitable weather conditions, but in the controlled environment of the school and when practised sensibly, it is among the safest of adventure sports. The recent improvements in paraglider design means that the more modern wings are many times safer to fly than some of several years ago.
